Ready Or Not Friday No3


There's quite a bit to talk about in this update.


Station changes:

The old station finally bothered me enough that I rebuilt it. I swapped out the haphazard dock/asteroid for a new system built using tiles.

These tiles all have their own hitpoints and until they are destroyed can serve as cover for the players ships.

I also added a station core/ward which has to be destroyed to get a game over.


New faction Lunarians:

After brain storming ideas with a friend the Lunarians have been born. The corvette is a long range fixed weapon ship with devastating firepower and a pathetic hit point pool. They are somewhat inspired by slimes of many fantasy games though rather than being a mindless fodder enemy they are a whole and thriving civilization. 


Updated control mechanics:

The weapons on this ship came with a few additional challenges. The ideal range for the weapon was actually right on the edge if not beyond the view range of the player. In order to make the weapon viable and more comfortable to use I added a Lerp method to the camera controls that allows the camera to move away from the player ship towards the cursor, effectively doubling the players sight range.


Additionally, with the weapon being fixed and unable to rotate the old controls were unable to comfortably control the ship. I added an alternate control function to all ships. Now when the player holds right click the ship will automatically turn to face the players cursor. Additionally, while in this control mode the players ship will be able to strafe.
